Apply to Summer Bridge!

Main content start

Applications for the 2025 Summer Bridge program are now closed. We'll be opening up applications for the 2026 program on May 1, 2026.

Who's eligible to apply?

All incoming first-year and transfer students who have accepted their offers of admission to Stanford University are eligible to apply. We especially hope that those who are the first in their family to attend college, whose high school had limited course offerings, or who are feeling less confident about doing college-level work will consider applying!

When is the deadline for applications?

For our 2025 cycle, we had two different deadlines for Summer Bridge applications:

  • Monday, May 26 at 11:59PM PST: This is the priority application deadline for those interested in participating in Online Session I (June 23-July 25)
  • Tuesday, June 10 at 11:59PM PST: This is the  deadline for those interested in participating in Online Session II (July 28-August 29) and/or our On-Campus Session (August 2-September 13).

How long will it take me to fill out the application?

You can anticipate that the application itself will take about 30 minutes of your time to fill out, although if you are interested in taking one of our math or chemistry courses, there are additional diagnostic questions that you'll need to complete before starting our general application form; the math and chemistry diagnostics each take between 45-60 minutes and links to these diagnostics are included on our application form.

What sort of questions are on the application?

As a note: In addition to being asked about basic demographics, availability, and other miscellaneous multiple-choice questions about your preparation, you’ll be asked some short answer questions. If you would like a preview of these questions, please visit this document rather than clicking through the application and inadvertently submitting a blank application.

Why are there diagnostics for math and chemistry?

Your work on these diagnostic problems will assist us in determining whether you would benefit for our Summer Bridge preparatory Math or Chemistry courses and may help us advise you moving forward for your placement in fall quarter classes.  If you're nervous that these diagnostics will affect your academic record, don't be: your work on these diagnostic problems will assist us in determining whether you would benefit for our Summer Bridge preparatory Math or Chemistry courses (note that you can take both if you'd like) and may help us advise you moving forward for your placement in fall quarter classes.  The links to the diagnostics are included at the top of the application form. You should complete the diagnostics first, before filling out the application; be sure to write down your score for the Math diagnostic after you finish to keep track of them; you'll be asked to share it with us later in the application. The Chemistry diagnostic will not produce a score; we will ask you to acknowledge completion only, rather than reporting a score, in the application.

What if I have more questions or if I'm not sure if the Summer Bridge Program is a good fit for me?
