Summer Bridge Sessions

Main content start

We offer both online and on-campus sessions during the summer to accommodate incoming students with different schedules and availability. The online and on-campus sessions offer the same courses and co-curricular experience, just in different formats (through Zoom or in-person).

Online Sessions

For those students who prefer to engage in our program remotely (whether because of family obligations, summer employment, or personal preference), we offer two online sessions.

  • Online Session I dates: Sunday, June 22 Welcome Event; Classes run from Monday, June 23 through Friday, July 25.
  • Online Session II dates: Sunday, July 27 Welcome Event; Classes run from Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 29.
  • See our Dates and Deadlines page for a full list of relevant dates for our programs.

Bridge Scholars in these sessions can take either one or two courses. You can expect to devote ~6-8 hours per week, per course. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in 1-2 hours of online additional events and activities with your fellow Bridge Scholars per week, designed to introduce you to key campus resources and to give you time to get to know each other.

On-Campus Session

This session brings Bridge Scholars to campus, to live in the dorms and start their Stanford residential experience early. The On-Campus Session includes 5 weeks of classes and an extra 6th Pre-Orientation Week.

  • On-Campus Session dates: Saturday, August 2: Move In; Sunday, August 3: Welcome & Orientation; Monday, August 4 through Friday, September 5: Classes; Sunday, September 7 through Saturday, September 13: Summer Bridge Pre-Orientation Week.
  • See our Dates and Deadlines page for a full list of relevant dates for our programs.

The On-Campus session - including the Pre-Orientation Week -- is a full-time experience, including classes, workshops, and community-building events and activities.

Summer Bridge Pre-Orientation Week

Our Pre-Orientation Week is part of the On-Campus Session; Online Scholars are welcome to apply to attend this special 6th week of programming. No academic classes are offered during this pre-orientation week. Instead, Scholars will participate in events, workshops, and activities, to learn about campus life and resources and get to know each other and campus even better before the start of Fall Quarter.
