Program Costs

Participation

Both the online and in-person Summer Bridge experiences are free for scholars participating. Housing and meals will be covered for the in-person residential program, as well as the sixth week pre-orientation period.

Travel

Travel to campus for the residential and sixth week program is not covered by Summer Bridge. All students are responsible for arranging their travel to campus for the Fall, which may include funds disbursed by the Financial Aid Office as stated in individual Financial Aid Award letters.

Insurance

All students at Stanford are required to either enroll in Cardinal Care, the University's student insurance plan, or provide proof of insurance through Axess.

Summer Bridge will cover the cost of insurance during the residential program for scholars who will enroll in Cardinal Care for the academic year. Opting into Cardinal Care for the program automatically enrolls scholars in Cardinal Care for the academic year. Summer Bridge does not cover academic year insurance.

The Financial Aid Office may be able to cover the cost of Cardinal Care for the academic year, depending on a student's Financial Aid Award. Please contact the Financial Aid Office directly to inquire.

Devices

Summer Bridge connects scholars to resources on campus for support with acquiring and troubleshooting technology. Scholars may discuss any foreseen technology needs in their application.

Financial Support

Financial Aid Distribution

The Financial Aid Office will distribute funds to scholars for the Fall Quarter during the first week of September. At this point, any refunds that scholars are scheduled to receive (listed in Financial Aid Award letters) will be sent. We recommend enrolling in Direct Deposit through Axess to ensure funds are easily accessible.

In-person Program Stipend

In order to replace earnings from summer jobs that are unable to be aquired due to participation in the in-person program, scholars may be eligible to receive a stipend through Summer Bridge. More information will be provided to scholars who have confirmed in-person participation.
