Online Sessions Overview

The online sessions are open to all incoming frosh and transfers, including international students, and provide a flexible way to engage Stanford’s academic material and resources before fall begins. Students enroll in one or two courses and can choose from three different online sessions designed to align with a range of schedules. Applicants will be able to view course schedules for the three online sessions on the application form. Students will also participate in asynchronous activities that help to build an online community with their peers and learn more about resources and opportunities at Stanford.

Online session participants can also apply to participate in Bridge Pre-Orientation, specifically for online session participants to become familiar with campus and resources while building community with peers, instructors, and mentors  prior to the start of New Student Orientation (NSO). Participants will also connect early with their academic advisor and get guidance on course enrollment for Autumn Quarter. After the program, students will stay on campus for NSO, leading into Autumn Quarter. Bridge Pre-Orientation participants who are eligible for financial aid will receive a $200 stipend that they can choose to use toward travel to campus.

International students are encouraged to participate in ISO instead of Bridge Pre-Orientation.
