Summer Courses
Students in Summer Bridge take courses that introduce the kind of academic work they may encounter in math, writing, and chemistry during their first year at Stanford. Students in the on-campus residential session enroll in two courses, while online students may choose to take one or two. Course placement is based on information shared in the application, and the curriculum is designed to be relevant across many fields and academic pathways at Stanford.
Taught in small, interactive learning environments, Summer Bridge courses emphasize analytical thinking, problem-solving, and scholarly inquiry. All courses are graded on a Satisfactory/No Credit basis, and earned credit is automatically applied to the Autumn Quarter transcript.
As part of the program, students also become more familiar with Stanford’s academic resources, including tutoring, academic coaching, advising, library support, and other opportunities that help students thrive.
